Ratings and Reviews Data Collection Times

Data Gathering in AppFollow

In this lesson, we'll unravel the intricacies of data collection times for various AppFollow features, ensuring you stay informed about your app's performance. Keep reading to learn more!

Timing is everything. Our data gathering principles match the unique rhythms of each store, country, and data source connection.

We understand that one-size-fits-all doesn't apply to data. Our commitment to accuracy spans various sources – from reviews and ratings to user feedback and performance metrics.

Difference between Ratings and Reviews

Ratings and reviews are two distinct components that users contribute to express their opinions. Here's a breakdown of the key differences between ratings and reviews:

Ratings are quick, numerical scores (usually, 1 to 5 stars) reflecting an overall user experience, providing an objective overview. They are easy to analyze and offer a quantitative measure.

Reviews, on the other hand, are written comments expressing subjective thoughts, feedback, or experiences in more detail. They provide deeper insights, covering specific likes, dislikes, suggestions, or encountered issues. Reviews offer a qualitative perspective, aiding developers and businesses in understanding user sentiments in a more nuanced way.

Collecting and Updating

Ratings Data

As soon as your app gets connected to the AppFollow, our data gathering engine springs into action. The speed of this collection may vary, taking anywhere from several minutes to a few hours, contingent on the volume of ratings and reviews your app has garnered.

Here is our Ratings Chart, where we tailor our update frequencies based on your app's unique characteristics:

  • Applications with a lower count of client ratings receive daily updates, while more popular ones are subject to a minimum of two daily updates to capture dynamic user engagement.
  • Clients with an active subscription benefit from three additional attempts for rating data updates ensuring their ratings are getting updated 4-5 times per day. For personalized tariff assistance, please reach out to our Sales team.
  • Harness global incremental Google Play ratings through our exclusive App Analysis connection. This specialized feature collects data twice daily directly from the Google Play console, keeping you on the cutting edge of app analysis.

Collecting and Updating App Store and Google Play Reviews

The Reviews Chart gets updated right away whenever we get a new review on AppFollow. So, how often the chart updates depends on how quickly we collect new reviews.

Google Play

With Service Account integration for replying to reviews, reviews are collected almost instantly as they appear on your Google Play Developer console. The delay may vary between 15 and 20 minutes depending on the country popularity.

Without Reply to reviews integration, reviews are gathered from the Google Play Web public store every hour for popular countries and 6 hours for less popular countries.

App Store

We recommend connecting the Reply to Reviews integration for a more accurate review collection. With the App Store Reply to reviews integration, we'll be able to collect reviews every 15-20 minutes from the public web pages of the App Store.

If you do not have a data connection for replying to App Store reviews, the data will be gathered every hour for popular countries and 3 times per day for non-popular countries.

Please note that delays may occur for Apple and Google reviews, with usual delays of 8-12 hours and up to 48 hours during the holiday season on the stores side. The use of Service Account data connection eliminates delays on Google's side.

Collecting and Updating Reviews from Microsoft, Huawei, Samsung and Amazon

Reviews from the Microsoft Store are updated every hour for popular countries and every 3 hours for unpopular countries.

Amazon reviews undergo updates every hour for popular and every 5 hours for unpopular countries.

Samsung reviews are getting updated every 5-10 minutes.

Huawei review collecting times also varies on the countries popularity: once per hour for popular and every 3 hours for unpopular countries.

Samsung and Huawei reviews can be collected with specific data connection directly from the developer console. Please make sure to configure the data connections for Samsung and Huawei apps following our Help Center guides.

The popular countries are United Kingdom, Australia, Spain, Brazil, South Korea, Mexico, China, France, Germany, Italy, United States, Russia, Japan, Portugal, Canada.

Retrospective App Store and Goole Play Reply Collection Frequencies

For a more accurate replying to reviews analysis, we recommend replying to app reviews directly from AppFollow. However, if you are a new user to our service, you may be interested in the process of retrospective review collection.

App Store

If your app is not currently linked to the App Store console for responding to reviews, our system engages in retrospective replies twice a day. We meticulously review feedback from the last month across all locales, offering a comprehensive overview. Please note that replies to reviews older than one month cannot be collected.

By integrating the Reply to Reviews feature, you can elevate the frequency of retrospective replies to twice a day. We analyze the most recent 300 reviews, disregarding locale restrictions.

Google Play Console

Our system collects 200 reviews every 5 minutes, adjusting the intervals at specific minute marks for a thorough and up-to-date analysis. This frequent retrieval allows you to stay abreast of user feedback, including replies sent directly from the console.

It's important to note that the frequency of retrospective replies gathering is constrained by the stores. Therefore, we recommend responding to reviews directly from AppFollow to centralize all information about your reviews and replies in one place.
